I was born and raised in northern Finland. My favourite memories from my childhood are when we got a Commodore 64 for Christmas in 1985. It came with a subscription of a Finnish computer magazine, Mikrobitti. I was glued to that computer unless I was reading the magazine. Later on, I got a summer job and was able to upgrade to an Amiga 500. It was clear already from that young age that I really enjoyed being around computers.

I spent the first part of my career in software engineering. In my first job, I felt a bit shamed when I got my salary. I would have paid to get to do the work, I was so excited. Back in those days, tools such as compilers, were not free, so I felt lucky to be in a position to use them.

After about 10 years in software and systems development, I wanted to do something else. I studied a Masters degree and started to work in the Data and Analytics. After more than decade in the data world, I’m still enjoying it. I’m currently working as a Data Architect at Zure in Helsinki.

In my free time, if something grabs my attention, I do a few years of deep diving into it, and then find something new. The most recent projct I got excited was underwater searching. I still do a few searches per year but unfortunately I don’t have the time to search as much I would like.
